Out on video this week is Liam Neeson's box office shocker, Taken 2 (it's opening weekend was nearly $50,000,000 in the US alone and no one expected more than $20 million at best); so, why did it do so well? Possibly and probably the Benghazi attacks (my review here: Justice Or Revenge? Taken 2 & American Paranoia). Also out is The Possession, which I have not yet posted on yet but will hopefully this weekend because it has some interesting points. Walt Disney has made some major announcements this week,...
Angelina Jolie's Maleficent has been moved from a ho-hum release date in March 2014 (yes, still another year to wait) to the Independence weekend of July 2, a major 3D contender for the holiday weekend's profits. In its place will be Muppets 2. Two years down the road, we can hope to see the fifth Pirates Of the Caribbean film: July 10, 2015 will see Johnny Depp as Capt. Jack Sparrow again, but there will be a new screen writer and director; Jerry Bruckheimer is still producing.
One of the films I am most looking forward to for 2014 is Captain America: the Winter Soldier which will be released in 3D on April 4. In the meantime, being released this weekend is Jessica Chastain's Mama (discussion on the trailer can be found at this link here) along with Arnold in The Last Stand and Russell Crowe in Broken City. January 25 is the release date for Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters, which I am personally looking forward to. Here is the listing (as the dates stand now) of what is being released when:
A Good Day To Die Hard February 14
GI Joe Retaliation March 20
Iron Man 3 May 3
Star Trek Into Darkness May 17
Man Of Steel June 14
Pacific Rim July 12
Thor: The Dark World November 8
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire November 22
The Hobbit The Desolation Of Smaug December 13
Eat Your Art Out,
The Fine Art Diner
