There was a sad family crisis yesterday, I apologize for not getting my post up on The Artist, but in addition to getting that up today, I will also be getting up a post on Beginners, starring Christopher Plummer, for which he has consistently been nominated (and winning) critical awards.
At long last, here are the nominees for the Academy Awards. There are 9 films up for Best Picture, which is excellent, that makes it highly competitive and validates the incredible work that the film industry has done this year, but I will say that the nominees for best actor/actress seem very conservative: I thought Leo DiCaprio would be a definite for a best actor nod for J. Edgar and Michael Fassbender for Shame, but A Better Life, that I haven't even heard of until now has stolen that honor from them both. Well, more commentary on this later after I have had a chance to study the list better:
