Contagion opening today.
This weekend, I am going to see Contagion (please see Contagion under Some Films I Am Anticipating for what I expect from the film) and Warrior (please see Warrior under Some Films I Am Anticipating for why I think this is going to be an important "social document" of a film). My upcoming posts, which are all (nearly) finished are The Help: Of Chocolate Pies and The Debt and the Theory of Chaos (to be posted immediately), and on Monday and Tuesday: "Tangled: Tom Brokaw" (on Netflix Instant Play this month), "Black Death and Necromancy," (also on Netflix Instant Play), and "Captain America: A Movie of Movies."
Warrior opening today.
Next week, I hope to finally begin the series on British Imperialism that I have been working on! Let me preface it by saying, I love the British! I am 85% British myself, maybe even more, and I love the British! These movies will tell you why: they see their problems, they get them worked out and they turn them into the most exquisite art in the process!
Released 1964 and still a favorite.
The Ugly Face of British Imperialism: The Elephant Man
Mary Poppins, the Bride of Frankenstein and Hottentots
 Leisure Hours: Victorian Consumption
Leisure Hours by John Everett Millais, 1864.
The Cost of Empire: The Wind in the Willows:

Modern Expansion: 'Largeness' in Alice in Wonderland
Censorship Within: The King's Speech
Sherlock Holmes and the Completion of London Bridge
Back to the Basics: Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace
Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland
In October, to prepare for the Feast of All the Hallowed, I am going to be choosing from these films to be posting on (or may post on them in one way or another): Carrie, The Exorcist, An American Werewolf in London, Nosferatu, Dracula (the Bela Lugosi version), Monster Squad, Van Helsing and Interview With the Vampire;
One of the most important movies ever made.
Underworld, The Haunting, Scream, (my favorite zombie) Night of the Living Dead, Blair Witch Project, Poltergeist (I have to post on this one, regardless of everything else, this one is just too important not to!), Creature From the Black Lagoon, Frankenstein-Bride of Frankenstein and Son of Frankenstein, Halloween and the other "slasher" films.
Night of the Living Dead and the flesh-eating ghouls.
Soon, I will also be posting on How to Become a Film Connoisseur with a listing of all the films that even an average fan of movies should have a "working knowledge of" and optional lists for those who really love films. I am also continuously updating my post How To Eat Art. Additionally, I will be trying to post on new films being released as they come out. Remember, I am just an email away, so if you have questions, suggestions or comments, don't hesitate to drop me a line.
Have a great weekend!
British superheros have so much class.
